I cannot emphasize enough how important time management is. Time
management is essential to every aspect of our lives, regardless
of whether we realize it or not.
I have had a bit of a time management issue over the past couple
of months, struggling to keep up with Kate's request of 1 blog a
week. Becoming unable to keep up to date with the blogging and my
exams.
But my exams have ended, but so too will the blogging internship
in a few weeks. So I am left now to cram the remaining blog post
into this short period of time. Not ideal I know.
That's just one example of how time management has become an issue for me. I talked of exams, well exams are a great example. You need to be able to manage your time in exams over a short period of time. Know how long you have to answer each exam question, and finish with time remaining to check.
In the real world however you might get deadlines "a week to finish that board paper" or can you "sort through these by tomorrow morning." See if you think about it everyone is under time pressure, all the time.
If you catch the train or the bus or any other form of public transport, you are under time pressure, as you want to be on time to get to where you need to get to.
So I've kind of explained what it is, but how do we go about managing our time. My answer. Plan. Planning is crucial to everything, if you have a clear plan in your head everything becomes clearer. Without a plan one might end up panicking.
And that's the second tip never panic, panicking is the worst thing to do in a situation where you are stressed for time. The best solution is to get your head down and do what you gotta do.
Ask for help. The most important thing is knowing if you are not going to be able to do something. Tell someone. A parent, a friend, a teacher or a colleague. After all a problem shared is a problem halved, or similar words to that effect.
Also do not make commitments you can't keep, as you will end up letting people down, who might be slightly displeased with you. Ensure that once you've made a commitment you at least make the effort to try your best to meet that commitment. Or just avoid making the commitment.
Got any other tips, feel free to comment them below.
